    In 1964, the Buon Ricordo union of restaurants was founded in Italy. Buon Ricordo plates are handcrafted by the potters in Vietri sul Mare, located in Salerno.  Buon Ricordo translated means "good memory" and these plates were to provide the patrons with good memories of a good evening and meal at a particular restaurant.
    Artists paint the plates one by one, copying a master design for each series. And while the pattern is the same, each has the unique style of the artist that paints it.
    Every keepsake plate has the name of the restaurant on top; the town where it is located appears along the bottom. The center of the plate includes the name of the dish and a visual interpretation.
